Description

The Hsu (pronounced: Shoe) Sword is the first in a new ongoing series of Chinese martial arts weapons designed by Sifu Adam Hsu from Taiwan. This sword is ideal for people that study Chinese martial arts like kungfu or tai chi, it is more suited for forms practice rather than practical cutting. The Hsu Sword can be used for class practice but the tip is a little dangerous. The blade is diamond-shaped with ridgelines running down the center of both sides of the sword producing an audible feedback when swung. This is a rigid blade (not like SOH-CAS-SH2008 or SOH-CAS-SH2062, but more like the SOH-CAS-SH2009) with a “gentle” edge, and a defined point or tip. This product will have 3 blade sizes like SOH-CAS-SH2008 (A= 28”, B=30”, C=32”). The scabbard & handle are made of a high-resistance polymer to look like wood-grain. (It looks black in the pic, but it is wood-grain color.) The scabbard has a special locking feature; in the bottom of the scabbard is a “duck-bill” lock to hold the sword in the scabbard so it could be upside-down and not fall out. The pommel is designed for the attachment of a tassel. The pommel & guard are made of stainless-steel. The handle is slender and has 2 grooves running down it for hand sensitivity in relation to the sword. The emblem in the center of the guard is a dragon. Compared to SOH-CAS-SH2008 Practical Taiji Sword: Biggest difference is the blade, the SOH-CAS-SH2008 has a semi-flexible blade bendable to 45 degrees, but the new Hsu Sword has rigid fixed blade that does not give. Another big difference is that the SOH-CAS-SH2008 blade tapers from thick to thin, whereas, the Hsu Sword does slightly taper but is roughly the same thickness all the way through. The handles are considerably different, the SOH-CAS-SH2008 has a very round handle, whereas, the Hsu Sword has a more slender handle with sensitivity grooves. Also, the SOH-CAS-SH2008 doesn’t have the “duck-bill” lock the Hsu Sword has.
